Summer is around the corner and like myself; my peers are very excited for the break to come. Many get summer jobs, go on vacations, or just hang out till the wee hours of the night. Well, for three USF students, their summer break will go on hold for a few weeks.
There is nothing like seeing live music in the summertime. Sitting in the grass amidst starry skies with music floating through the air is welcome change from cold days, overflowing with of papers and exams. This summer, whether you're into country, rock, or both, the Chicagoland area offers something for everyone in terms of live music with a variety of shows and festivals.
As the final days of April come and go, we students can think of nothing, but pushing through these last weeks of research papers, presentations and into summer. The amount of homework and stress weighs heavily on students who are looking forward to a much-needed vacation.
Recently the University of St. Francis's played host to Blake Mycoskie of TOMS shoes. Somehow this meant that every hallway, door, window, and room needed to be plastered with TOMS promotional placards. I think it may be somewhat admirable that Mycoskie is running an organization that not only sells shoes, but donates shoes to less fortunate children.
St. Francis hosted a few special guests on Friday, April 16. About 50 students from Dirksen Jr. High were hosted by Ruth Weldon and the Computer Science Department in St. Albert's Hall. These students were instructed how to use a user-friendly programming software called Alice.
Summer is near, and many feel the need to be tan. May is Skin Cancer Awareness month, which makes this the perfect opportunity to discuss some facts and precautions about ultraviolet radiation (UV) rays. UV rays damage DNA, which makes up genes. These genes are what control if skin is healthy.
After 90 years of education and dedication the University of St. Francis (USF) was named the recipient of the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce Salute to Accomplishment Award. The Chamber's Award is given yearly in acknowledgment of a Joliet business, local government, or nonprofit organization .
Do you long for experiencing something new? Do you want to see the world? A semester abroad in beautiful Florence, Italy is probably the best thing you could experience during your college career. It was for me. Studying abroad is very different from taking a vacation.
The University of St. Francis' (USF) men's and women's track finished their conference outdoor meet. Both teams did well at the conference meet, coming back with a first place finish. For the men's team, Wayland Forelich took first in the Triple Jump, jumping 12.

It is the end of the semester, which means finals are closer, graduation is around the corner, temperatures are climbing and so are the hemlines of shorts all over campus. This summer promises more than just short-shorts, sundresses and backless tops. A big summer trend, taken directly from the runway, is polka dots and not the kind from the sweater received for Christmas from your aunt.
More and more university students across the country are taking an extra semester or even an entire fifth year in order to graduate on time with their bachelor's degrees. Before transferring to USF this semester, I attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, which was not-so-affectionately referred to as U-Never-Can-Graduate by many students due to complicated graduation requirements.
Graduation is swiftly approaching and hopefully those of you that will be graduating on May 8th have put some thought into your environmentally friendly options. Many of us (including myself) will be celebrating our great accomplishment, as well as that of our friends, then setting out to find jobs in the real world.
Confidence can be defined as assurance, freedom from doubt, and/or belief in yourself and your abilities. Both men and women are attracted to someone who is secure. However, males and females express confidence in different ways. Men may show self assurance by cracking jokes loudly to their friends when girls are in the near vicinity.
